Your Feet
Your Feet - 10 Basic Foot Guidelines
- Wash Your Feet Daily: Use warm water and mild soap. Rinse well and dry carefully, especially between the toes.
- Moisturize: After washing your feet, moisturize them well. Use cream rather than a lotion. Do not moisturize between the toes.
- Powder Feet: If your feet sweat, use talc powder.
- Use A Nail File: Keep your toe nails trimmed by using a nail file or emery board.
- Examine Feet Daily: Use a mirror, if you find it difficult to examine the soles of your feet.
- Wear Properly Fitted Shoes: Shoes that do not fit properly place unnecessary and potential harmful pressure on your feet.
- Wear Comfortable Socks: Wear cotton or wool socks because of their ability to absorb moisture. Avoid ridges along the side which can rub into your skin.
- Check Water Temperature: If your feet have lost sensitivity, you may be exposing them to extreme temperatures without knowing it. Always test water with your forearm rather than your feet.
- Treat Minor Scrapes And Cuts: Take care of all cuts and scratches as soon as you notice them. Clean area with warm water and soap. If the affected area does not show any improvement between one or two days, and if redness and swelling occurs see your doctor immediately.
- Have your feet checked by Chiropodist at least once a year.
